THIS is the beginning of the thing that Wren has been cruelly and wantonly teasing us all with for ages. Ignore Wren smack-talking herself and allow me to explain: this is an AU in which everyone is born with only four fully functional senses, except for the rare individual who possesses them all but is mute instead.
Wren’s done a killer job of exploring how a mute army doctor works around his issues, the kinds of prejudice a blind policeman can face in his job, how a consulting detective operates in a world in which every person exists in an overlapping but not completely shared sensory experience of the world, and the way a society must be constructed when everyone needs to compensate for themselves and one another.
On top of all that, it’s also sexy. Wren is magic, you guys.
