“Spock and Kirk…They’re two halves of almost the same person in many ways.Kirk is the heart and the gut and the soul and the passion and the impulsiveness. And Spock is that kind of cold logic and reason. (…) And I think both Spock and Kirk have something to learn from one another.” – Chris Pine

See, everybody says stuff like this and they totally forget how logical and calculating and ruthless Kirk can be when he wants to be.  And how Spock’s got that wicked sense of humor and the inclination to do wild things like head out into outer space and set foot on planets no one in his civilization has ever seen.

It’s not just that they complete each other.  It’s that can they see themselves IN each other.  It’s just that one runs hot and the other runs cold.

Oh, but when Spock heats up, he goes volcanic.  And when Kirk goes cold, even the Klingons take cover.

So, what they can learn from each other is not how to access those other parts of themselves; it’s how to control them.
