I’ve been using FireAlpaca for over a month now, and it has become the art program I turn to before Adobe PhotoShop.  It is easy to use, fairly lightweight in terms of size and system resources, and it runs well.  I haven’t had any problems with it.  Also I like the smooth feel of the brushes, and it has the first-ever inking tool that I can use effectively without wanting to grow 100 feet tall and destroy entire cities.

So I’m hereby recommending it to any of you folks looking for a good new art program, and especially for those of you thinking, “Gosh, I’d like to try digital art, but how the hell do I find a decent program I don’t have to indenture myself to acquire?”

FireAlpaca is free, and I am a person whose previous go-to art program was the most expensive of them all, and here I am loving it.  Extra bonus round:  they have versions that work equally well for Windows AND Mac!
