Yep! I reblogged somebody’s link to that: http://archiveofourown.org/admin_posts/266 – and shinykari is right: the servers and networks at AO3 are not substantially impacted by tag commentary.
They also posted a second blog post on tags immediately after that one—http://archiveofourown.org/admin_posts/267—where they talked about the people who wrangle the tags. They’re the ones who have to deal with most of the tag-commentary hassle.
And I’m sorry I wasn’t clear, but I wasn’t speaking only about AO3. It’s set up pretty well to weather this treatment, but not all websites and social media platforms are.
