ESF Newcomb Campus Seeks 2nd Artist in Residence

Last summer, Frances Gaffney was Newcomb Campus’s first artist-in-residence. In addition to informally speaking with AIC visitors, she displayed her work and led public workshops. Her resulting art series was a unique and thought-provoking intersection of art and science, with connections to philosophy, physics, environmental conservation and human relationships with nature.

After the success of the program’s first year, Newcomb Campus looks forward to holding the program again this year, and hosting their second artist-in-residence.

The artist will be based out of the Adirondack Interpretive Center, and will be provided with studio space, room and board and a stipend to pursue his or her interests, and share their process and resulting work with visitors.

If you know someone who would be interested in participating in this year’s program, encourage them to contact the AIC to apply.  Contact information is available in the article.

Anybody interested in this?

This could be a pretty cool opportunity for an artist looking for a way to fill their summer.  I’m not sure it’s strictly visual artists either.  I wonder how they’d feel about poets, or musicians, or even a metalworker?
