I felt like this when my grandfather and grandmother died.  It’s hardly possible to have a longer, fuller, more amazing life.  I can only hope I’m lucky enough to have a fraction of that.  It’s more a fierce joy at their triumph and gratitude at having ever had them than it is mourning.

And yet, we’re the ones left behind, in a world a little diminished from what it was yesterday.  And I feel sad for everyone who will come after who will never have a chance to know them.
