Trying to decide whether the overhead view of Hannibal’s cell embedded into the bark of the tree as the Red Dragon symbol is meant to be entirely symbolic, or if it’s also an indicator of the literal size of Hannibal’s room.

The differences in the rooms are messing with me.

I’ll take votes, I think.

It’s not showing his room to scale; the second image is strongly foreshortened from above.  Compare the size of the hanging lights relative to Hannibal himself in picture 1 vs picture 2.

But it’s not necessarily entirely symbolic, either, because even if the size of his room looks a little bit crunched there, I think part of the point is to make you realize that this is the entire space of his world these days.  After you’ve been confined to one room for three years, if it’s looking a little bit small, then maybe that’s not the objective reality, but it’s probably the subjective one.
