Anyone else getting a lot of gross clickbait spam on the tags they check lately?

@staff I hope you’re doing something, because 10 out of 15 posts being things like “you were pooping wrong all this time!!” when I’m just looking for cute pictures of characters is a bit fucking much.

Enormous amounts of gross clickbait.  You basically get ten good posts, and then seas of clickbait spam.

I suspect tumblr’s just fine with this: clickbait means more clicks through which means more advertising views which means they profit. It’s really not about the user experience, here.

I resonate with your cynicism in my soul, but those are all a relatively small number of Russian tumblrs generating remarkable volumes of spam.  Which probably means 1: they’re violating site policy 2: they’re part of a campaign run by cybercriminals to exploit Tumblr to either drive users to really bad porn sites at profit of the spammers, or to infect users’ computers with malware.

I doubt Tumblr’s on board with having their own resources abused for somebody else’s profit.  Especially if it gets bad enough that it starts interrupting service.
