about those cool cat-eared helmets: as a physicist I’m rather worried what a hit straight to the ears might cause. Like, the same hit to the side or somewhere else might not do much damage, but the tip of the ear is much smaller area, and with the same size of force… well. Unless they have some magic going on around there.

The company claims that the ears are basically tear-away. They’re really only there to be decorative, so that might be true–and you wouldn’t WANT to make them too heavy because the helmet would become pretty unwieldy. Still, it’s the kind of thing I’d really rather have the ECE smash-test for me before I start driving around with it on my head.
