Ben… Why didn’t you tell me?
I’ve probably watched this movie over 100 times and this bit still gets me every time. This is probably the most vulnerable Luke is in the entire series. If Vader had caught up to the Falcon in this scene, this was when he COULD have turned Luke.
Look at him. He’s already taken Vader to heart. He’s already ‘Father’ and Luke is halfway to reaching back while he’s lying there shocky and traumatized. He’s got no emotional reserves left, Vader is shoved right up against his amygdala with the Dark Side breathing in his head, and his remaining friends are almost as bad off as he is.
