Wash has a traumatic flashback as he almost DIES during RVB12 and he just like jumps back in to trying to take care of everything even though he’s straight up reeling from what’s happening and his PTSD is kickin his ass. this is the guy who says, “just try” to tucker and keeps saying until tucker is saying it too and this is the guy who says “you have to realize that making mistakes is just part of the deal”–god i love that quote so much–because if he doesn’t believe that himself he has nothing. he’s made mistake after mistake and seen his friends and his family die because of their mistakes and yet, he keeps on going and trying. I FUCKING LOVE THE LOCUS VS WASH ARC OF SEASON 12. the good solider vs the monster arc. the following orders vs following your own conscious. locus only knows how to be a soldier but wash has done both and he’s come out on the other side. he doesn’t quite know what he is except that he has a new team, a family and he’s going to keep them.
