This. This is the list I’ve been wanting to put together, grinding my teeth after I’ve seen people whinge about how 2016 was WORST YEAR EVER.
No. No, it wasn’t. Not even close.
(People who were alive in 1929 might seriously disagree with you. People who are still coping with polio today may want to have words with you.)
2016 had issues, but so much about this entire year was absolutely amazing, and we should not ever lose sight of those things.
Giving this post a standing ovation.
(PS: The cited 25% reduction in the Dutch/Netherlands crime rate is rooted in policy reforms, and the adoption of what seem to be more effective strategies for addressing criminality and treating offenders.)
