Scientists Are Turning Nuclear Waste Into Super-Efficient Diamond Batteries » Second Nexus:

In today’s good SCIENCE! news: some glorious mad scientists out there have figured out how to take nuclear waste and squash it into a diamond that puts out a non-dangerous amount of radioactivity and also serves as a more or less infinite battery–albeit a small one.  One diamond puts out less juice than a AA battery.

A much more useful solution than storing it inside a mountain for 10,000 years, and cheaper too.  And in fact less toxic than your average AA battery!
