actualwashington:

Here’s an idea that I haven’t really thought through, but when I think about it, it makes sense:

In PFL, The Director called Wash “David”.

In Recovery, Wash said, “You gave me that name [Agent Washington]. The least you could do is use it.”

Implication: Agent Washington is a different entity from “David”, post-Epsilon-Incident, the same way The Meta is different from Agent Maine.

This is pretty much what I’ve suspected for a while.  I think maybe Wash draws lines around his life this way?  Who and what he is now are so different from who he used to be that it’s easier to see himself as Agent Washington than to try to connect himself back to David.
I don’t think it’s DID.  I think it’s just the framing he uses to establish context.

So I feel like you can translate that line into, “You made me into the person I am now.  You don’t get to use my old identity to try to fuck with me.”
