Reyes believed after what happened with Lacroix, it would be far easier to keep up the walls. Keep it distant with Morrison. It was proving harder each day. Small things that kept edging him closer, tearing down his defences and desperately wanting to just click with the man. But the images of his old partner, blood dyed blue from the neon lights still kept him up at night and afraid.
Every time he came up with a reason to keep the wall up, Morrison gave two more to keep them down. He wasn’t sure his heart could take this, in more ways than one.
