I can’t say Cumberbatch is doing much for me in the Star Trek trailer.
I mean, we don’t know anything about his character. Cumberbatch is great and all, but I need to see the bad guy doing something more than punching people and declaring “I have returned” to get a sense of him posing an actual threat or being in any way compelling. 2/3 of the galaxy wants vengeance on the Federation, guys, it’s not exactly novel.
This, on the other hand.
They could’ve ditched the entire trailer and just flashed this on the screen for 30 seconds, and people would’ve gone batshit. AND RIGHTFULLY SO. HOLY SHIT ABRAMS YOU HAD BETTER BE FUCKING WITH US.
