I put the “no change in personality” thing in because I don’t really see how anything would have been different in my life if I were the opposite gender. Some people have different experiences, and the post was in no way meant to invalidate them. :)

Oh, I didn’t mean to sound like I thought you were! 🙂  It’s just a thing I’ve noticed when others have given me that advice.  I’ve tried switching characters’ genders before, and it always seems to affect them somehow.  Sometimes, it wouldn’t change their life, but it would change the perceptions and reactions of the people around them.  Whether I can get away with that or not depends on what I need readers to know about them, and what I need them to do.
