My place is here with my people.

Boromir is just one of my faves.

He was so brave and strong and kind to those smaller and weaker than him.  He protected those hobbits (who were barely more than kids, too, not just short adults) ferociously, and he was devoted to his people.

He just.  He was everything everybody thinks the hero should be in stories.  He was totally the White Male Savior, and that’s what got him.  He was a good person, but that little hook of entitlement is what killed him.

And it’s what saved Faramir, because Faramir thought his brother was the hero too, and so Faramir never particularly assumed that he deserved anything in comparison.
