The atmosphere obeys the laws of fluid dynamics just like the oceans do. Gases aren’t liquid, of course, but they are fluid. The earth, from its molten interior to the most rarified layer of our atmosphere, is largely made up of layer upon layer of fluids, all in different densities.
So tl;dr, what you’re seeing right here is the atmosphere flowing.
