I’ve always thought so, too, but the whole Murder Husbands arc in S2 seems to contradict this (one of the many reasons I so disliked it). In those episodes, Will dressed like Hannibal, talked like Hannibal, ate like Hannibal, killed like Hannibal, became his perfect mirror, and Hannibal was on cloud nine. So simplistic – I honestly thought Hannibal was more perceptive than that. I’d love to see the show evolve to a place where Hannibal realizes that he doesn’t want a perfect copy of himself – that he loves Will not only for those qualities they share, but for those qualities exclusive to Will himself, qualities Hannibal himself lacks.
