You know maybe my favorite thing about these books? I didn’t think she’d go for it when I first started reading them, but you have Cal who is half-something wildly Other than human, and as the series goes along you get to see how his instincts and psychology are part of that. I freaking LOVE that because almost everybody seems to write their alien characters as if they’re just weird humans.
