All the commentary and discussion around the recent con makes this scene make so much more sense to me. I could never figure out quite what Bedelia meant by her response. But now I see that it’s obviously a clarification, because when it comes to Hannibal you have to be pretty specific about how you’re defining sloppy words like ‘love.’
I also enjoy that for all his almost psychically intuitive understanding of Hannibal, there are still things that Will is bringing into focus about him.
And also this makes an earlier scene with Bedelia and Hannibal make a lot more sense to me, because probably the reason Will doesn’t see it till Bedelia points it out is because Hannibal didn’t see it till Bedelia pointed it out. And of course he didn’t. He doesn’t normally sail in these waters.
