Not a coyote? Those are some eldritch-voiced little motherfuckers, I tell you what.
Eldritch is a good word for coyotes! They were one of the sounds of summer in my hometown. You could hear their yip-howls at night, echoing down the hillsides.
Haven’t heard any coyotes there in many years.
But this was definitely a fox. Not only is the sound unmistakable, but I saw the little guy.
