or
“I can’t stand _______, but I couldn’t resist this…”
Eh, I don’t feel like they’re trying to say they’re better than people who like a thing. I think they’re just trying to express that they normally find the thing inaccessible or not their bag, but that you handled it in a way that let them see and appreciate it even as an outsider.
