Fun fact:  I went down to Ithaca this past weekend, and there’s a monument to Carl Sagan.  It’s a ‘planet walk,’ in which obelisks representing the planets are placed at intervals leading away from a sun dial.  The sun dial represents the sun, and the obelisks are both sized and spaced proportionally to the planets.

The obelisks from Mercury to Mars are all within 100 feet.  You can’t see Jupiter or Saturn from the sun dial, and Pluto is 3/4 of a mile away.
