until the day Sherlock accidentally cuts his finger on broken glass during an experiment and John sees the welling drop of blood and then he latches onto it, holding onto Sherlock’s finger with both tiny hands, sucking at the blood
and Sherlock would watch him with intense fascination (and fondness)
