Oooh, I’ve never been tagged in one of these things before!

Rule 1: Always post the rules  Rule 2: Answer the questions the person who tagged you asked and write 11 new ones  Rule 3: Tag 11 people and link them to this post  Rule 4: Actually tell them you tagged them

I’ve never actually been tagged in one of these things before (that I know of!).  HOW EXCITING.  Okay, let’s see.

1. Are you more interested in the process or the finished product?

GOSH, that’s a good question.  *takes a good hard look at her life*

…Iiii think I’m going to guess I’m more interested in the process.  I feel the process more?  It’s what sticks with me.  Once a thing is finished…well, I do get a sunny glow when I look upon my handiwork, but it’s because I know what it took to make it.  It’s worth being proud of because it took effort, right?

And the process is so INTERESTING.  The twists and turns and hidden depths are like psychology.  The dance—when you get into the flow, find your groove, it’s like floating on air.  You’re just in harmony.  It’s zen.  It’s awesome, and fascinating, and an art of its own.

Unless we’re talking critical analysis.  In which case the product is the only thing that matters. ^_^

2. What books are on your beside table/nightstand?

Currently, Sarah Monette’s The Bone Key, and an old modern fantasy novel from the 1980s called The Eye in the Stone, by Alan Wold.  (Interestingly, it was 1985, and the author wrote a foreword detailing his use of ‘they’ as a non-gendered pronoun.  1985, and this dude got it.)

3. Do you have any tattoos? If not, would you consider one?

No tattoos on me.  I have considered one, in a hypothetical way, but I’ve never found anything that speaks to me the right way.

4. What do you like best about your appearance?

Hmmmmm.  I have a nicely-shaped face.  No, my eyes.  I have pretty great eyes.  I’ve also become fond of my hips over the years.  We had a rocky, unhappy start, but they’ve grown on me. (Har har.)

5. What’s your favourite building?

Hmmmmmmm.  I can’t say this is definitive, but the one that comes to mind is this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niagara_Mohawk_Building

The Niagara Mohawk Building here in Syracuse.  It’s so AMAZINGLY ART DECO.  And the first time I ever saw it, it was lit with cobalt and silver floodlights and it was like something out of a movie.

Or wait, no, maybe it’s the log cabin a friend of my dad’s built for himself.  Bought 20 acres of woods and proceeded to carpenter himself a house.  When I visited, he’d finished part of the inside—sanded the interior logs down and finished them—and the walls there were this smooth, rich, glowing red-gold.  And the light.  Oh.  It was like living inside a sunset.

6. Do you prefer to be outdoors or indoors?

OUTDOORS.  I start to wither if I go too long without being surrounded by woods and sun and air.  I love walking in the rain, because of the way it feels on the skin and the scent of the wet earth in the air.  Outside, anytime!

7. Have you ever met a celebrity?

Does James Morrow count?  Probably not; you probably don’t know who he is, but I got a book signed.  Um.  Chuck Wendig?  I used to talk with him sometimes when I was modding the Werewolf forums over at ShadownEssence.  Alexis Ohanion?  Hung out with him at a social media conference while I was in school.

…I guess it depends on who you count as a celebrity, and what you count as ‘meeting’ them.

8. What colour is your living room?

Beige.  It’s a rental.

9. What kind of pictures do you have on your walls?

I have two things on my walls, and they are both full-size prints of Michael Whelan’s book covers.  Black Sun Rising and To Green Angel Tower.

10. What’s your favourite smell?

Sun-warmed forest in mid-summer, shortly after a rain.

Sun-warmed forest in mid-summer DURING a rain is a close runner-up.

11. Are there any countries you haven’t visited that you would like to?

All of them.  I’m horrifically impoverished in terms of travel.
