You know, I think he’s mostly just miffed that John now takes longer to get to him when Sherlock texts.
In the original stories, doesn’t Watson mention at one point that he and Mary had kept a room for Holmes so he could come and stay with them when he wanted? (Which he did apparently not-infrequently.)
Can you imagine Sherlock camping out at their place in the suburbs? Shuffling out onto the stoop with his hair a mess, dressing gown over his shoulders, to peer around with a disgusted expression at the whole street?
