Whether you’re new to the show (we won’t blame you if you haven’t heard of it) are midway through watching or have been dedicated from the start and are up to date… you should read this post, Literally everything you can do to help the show get a season 3, so helpushelpwillgraham

Never heard of the show?

Hannibal is a TV series from Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) created because he wanted to explore the relationship between Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham prior to where the books and films begin with it.

It’s gory, but psychological and more than anything, beautiful.

You’ll enjoy it if you’ve enjoyed things like Sherlockand Criminal Minds

Where can you watch Season One?

  • Buy the Dvd/Bluray (this is your first port of call)
  • Of course, not everyone has the money, you can use the streaming service Amazon Prime. (You can get a free trial)
  • If these are not avaliable to you, you can find all the episodes of season 1 here

What about Season Two?

  • You can watch episodes from season 2 here with nbc and here with hulu.
  • If you aren’t from the US, you’ll need an extension (google chrome) you can use hola or media hint I believe.
  • Please attempt to watch it live.

While you’re watching, whether it’s season 1 or season 2…

  • LIVE TWEET/BLOG – This is really important – using the tag and tags released by nbchannibal during the show.
  • CONVERT MORE FANNIBALS – Get as many people as you can to watch it. Advertise/blog about it. NBC seem determined to kill the show through lack of advertising so we all do it.

What more you can do surrounding the show…

I know it—quite understandably—grosses many people out.  But while there are some nightmarish images, they’re sparingly deployed and the bulk of the series is psychological/suspense horror.  (Except for one scene at the beginning of S2E2, I would say this series has been less grotesque than, say, Fringe.)  There’s something intensely Brothers Grimm about it, something that absolutely smacks of faery queens and dark gods and big bad wolves.  And with the use of symbols like stags and ravens and mushroom rings, portals and the, well, eating of forbidden fruit, I don’t think that’s an accident at all.

It’s also spectacularly well-conceived and well-made.  If you’re like me, and the stress of watching a show like Sherlock or Teen Wolf or Supernatural starts getting to you with all the doubts about, “Oh god, this could be so great, but they could also fuck it up so thoroughly,” that is a fear you never have to have with Hannibal.  It’s one of those spectacular, rare gems where you can relax in total confidence that the people running the show know exactly what they’re doing.

As a bonus round, if you’re of the school of fiction that celebrates the main character being put through hell…well, it doesn’t get better than this.

So basically, if you can handle going dark, I honestly cannot recommend this show highly enough.  It’s magic.

(And if you can’t deal with dark, you can at least load the show up in Hulu, mute it and let it play in a tab while you do other things. ^_^)
