My condolences!  I think I share that experience, actually.  When I was little, I remember loving walnuts.  I would sit with my grandfather and sister, and we would shell and eat a whole bowl full of walnuts between us.  But now the very smell of walnuts makes me feel queasy.

I don’t remember why, but I think I must’ve eaten some bad ones at some point, and gotten sick, and now I associate the smell with being ill.  A similar thing happened to me a couple of years ago when I got a pretty nasty stomach virus.  The last thing I ate before I spent the next two days throwing up was an orange.  It took me several months before I could smell or eat oranges again without feeling nauseated.
